About FIA European Principal Traders Association
FIA EPTA supports transparent, robust and safe markets with a level playing field for all. We believe these goals are promoted by opening markets to competition and guaranteeing fair access to participants. FIA EPTA members believe principal traders contribute significantly to this goal by providing liquidity and enabling immediate risk transfer by others.

The FIA European Principal Traders Association represents traders in Europe that trade their own capital

  • The association will voice traders’ opinions to legislators and regulators in Brussels and EU member states
  • The association will be headquartered in Brussels with independent governance under the FIA brand
  • Candidate members are requested to underwrite the principles of the FIA EPTA

A joint approach by principal traders can increase the impact of advocacy in a dynamic landscape

  • The European regulatory landscape continues to be very dynamic
  • There are several areas where new rules are being considered, including reviews of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive and the Market Abuse Directive, the implementation of new rules for OTC derivatives trading and clearing, the imposition of a financial transaction tax, and restrictions on short selling.
  • A joint approach will complement the actions of individual firms and provide legitimacy to their statements and submissions

We invite all principal trading firms active in Europe to join as members of the FIA EPTA

  • The association was launched in June 2011 and has grown to more than 20 firms
  • The association holds membership meetings at least once per quarter as well as regular briefings on a more frequent basis
  • To qualify for membership, firms must endorse the association’s principles
  • For more information about membership in FIA EPTA, contact Mary Kincheloe at mkincheloe@futuresindustry.org
