Laurence E. Mollner

 

Larry Mollner began his 30-year career in futures at E.F. Hutton in 1966 and developed a life-long interest in commodity futures investments. In 1977 he moved to Chicago and began working on the floor of Chicago Mercantile Exchange as a salesman and order filler for Thomson McKinnon. He joined Dean Witter Reynolds in 1979 as a salesman in the commodities division. He went on to develop the firm’s presence in financial futures, eventually becoming director of its futures market division. When Dean Witter sold its futures business, Mollner became president of Carr Futures and managed the transition. He served as FIA chairman from 1995 to 1997 and worked tirelessly to bring exchanges and firms to the table to discuss common clearing—a proposal he could demonstrate would offer considerable savings for all parties. He also was a strong advocate for developing common formats and standards necessary to efficiently conduct a global business. He also served as the chairman of CME’s FCM committee and as a member of numerous other CME committees. He also served on the board of the National Futures Association and as an industry governor of the CME.
