From order entry through allocation to clearing and settlement, the front and back office are becoming more integrated. From a software perspective, firms are seeking smarter, fine-tuned system software, middleware, and other applications to support the lifecycle of trading. From a hardware perspective, firms are migrating from individual servers to blade servers, going back to mainframes, using grid computing or other specialized hardware solutions.
